Department : Computer Science and Engineering (NBA ACCREDITED) : Mentoring
Mentoring
- 1. St. Thomas Institute for Science and Technology has a strong mentoring system to provide students a sense of security and guidance for academic and personal needs.
- 2. At the department level, each year has two mentors/faculty advisors who can help the students by discussing the issues (academic and personal) related to them.
- 3. The assigned faculty advisor pays personal attention and monitors students’ academic progress during institutional hours.
- 4. Faculty advisors maintain student records with details of parent’s address, contact number, and academic performance including mentoring reports.
- 5. In every semester, faculty advisors conduct at least two mentoring sessions and update the mentoring record, which is reviewed by the HOD.
- 6. This helps to closely monitor students’ progress in terms of attendance, punctuality, academic performance, and learning capabilities.
- 7. It helps identify, beyond curricular requirements, the student’s behavioral patterns, use of facilities, and development of personal attributes.
- 8. Mr. Robin Thomas B.D, youth chaplain, is appointed by the college to guide and counsel students facing personal issues that mentors may not be equipped to handle.
